The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834166287 is a 2-inch quick-change disc designed for surface conditioning and moderate material removal on metal and composite substrates. Built on a flexible polyester and nylon web backing with a high-loft nylon fiber construction, this disc mounts via a Type S Power-Lock (TS/Type II) attaching system for fast, tool-free changes on compatible grinders. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain is bonded using Clean Bond resin technology, which resists smearing and loading. Rated to 30,000 RPM, it handles coarse-grade work across a range of demanding materials. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working in metal fabrication, aerospace prep, or surface finishing will recognize this format immediately.
This disc is suited for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, soft and hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass and composite materials. It is compatible with die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders that accept Type S quick-change attachments. The coarse grade makes it appropriate for moderate stock removal, edge blending, and weld preparation rather than final finishing passes. It is sold individually and is not trimmable.
Compatible with die grinders, inline grinders, straight grinders, and handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S quick-change arbor. Rated for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, soft carbon steels, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, and fiberglass and composite materials.
Installation is performed by pressing the disc onto a Type S quick-change mandrel until it seats and locks — no tools required. Verify the spindle speed of the tool does not exceed 30,000 RPM before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc that shows tears, delamination, or center-hole deformation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and hearing protection when operating grinding equipment.
