The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834162587 is a 6-inch hook-and-loop abrasive disc designed for surface finishing, blending, and light material removal. The disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive in a non-woven construction, delivering consistent cut and finish at 150 grit (very fine grade). The flexible non-woven pad conforms to contoured surfaces, making it effective on both flat and irregular workpieces. At a maximum operating speed of 8,500 RPM, it is compatible with standard random orbital and right-angle grinders equipped with hook-and-loop backing pads. The blue disc color aids in quick grit identification during multi-stage finishing workflows. No vacuum holes are included in this configuration.
This disc is suited for metalworking, woodworking, and composite surface prep applications where a very fine finish is required. Typical uses include pre-paint scuffing, weld blending, and finish sanding on metal fabrication and millwork projects. At 150 grit, it removes fine scratches and prepares surfaces for coatings or final inspection. The non-woven structure resists loading and continues to cut evenly as the disc wears, extending usable life compared to coated abrasive alternatives. This product is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 100 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for 6-inch hook-and-loop random orbital sanders and right-angle grinders equipped with a hook-and-loop backing pad rated for non-woven abrasive discs.
Mounting and replacement of abrasive discs does not require power isolation, but the tool should be powered off and unplugged before changing any disc. Align the disc flush against the backing pad and press firmly to engage the hook-and-loop interface before operating. Do not exceed the rated maximum speed of 8,500 RPM. Inspect the disc and backing pad for wear or damage before each use and replace if the abrasive surface is loaded, torn, or delaminating.
