The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834160754 is a 1-inch diameter non-woven quick-change disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing work on metal and composite substrates. It uses an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded to a flexible polyester and nylon web backing, rated to a maximum of 40,000 RPM. The TR (Type III) quick-change attachment system allows fast, tool-free disc swaps on compatible die grinders and inline grinders. The very fine grade and non-woven construction make it well suited for final-pass finishing and light deburring without loading or smearing the workpiece surface.
This disc is intended for use on die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders operating within the rated RPM range. It is engineered for work on 300 Series and 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, super alloys, titanium, and fiberglass and composites. The flexible backing conforms to contours, making it practical for weld blending and profile work on irregular surfaces. Metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and aerospace and industrial trades are the primary users of this disc type.
Compatible with die grinders, handheld disc sanders, inline grinders, and straight grinders equipped with a TR (Type III) or Type R quick-change arbor. Rated for use on 300 Series stainless, 400 Series stainless, fiberglass and composites, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Installation is performed by metal fabrication and maintenance technicians using a compatible TR or Type R quick-change mandrel. Ensure the grinder or sander is powered off and the tool is at a complete stop before mounting or removing the disc. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed 40,000 RPM before operation. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard if the backing shows tears or the abrasive layer is worn through.
