The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834137483 is a mounted flap wheel designed for precision surface finishing and deburring in tight or contoured areas. Built with aluminum oxide coated abrasive on a cloth backing, it delivers consistent stock removal and a smooth finish on metal and other hard surfaces. The wheel runs at a maximum of 37,000 RPM and mounts on a 0.125 inch shank, making it compatible with most rotary tools, die grinders, and flex-shaft machines. At a very fine 180 grit, it is suited for finishing passes rather than aggressive material removal. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and fabricators commonly use this wheel for detail work on weld seams, ports, and internal bores.
This mounted flap wheel is well matched to precision finishing applications in metalworking, automotive, and general fabrication environments. Its 0.625 inch diameter and 0.625 inch face width allow it to reach recesses, slots, and curved surfaces that larger wheels cannot access. Typical use cases include cleaning up casting flash, blending weld beads in tight spaces, and preparing surfaces for coating or inspection. The cloth backing provides flexibility that conforms to irregular contours while maintaining consistent abrasive contact.
Designed as a standard 0.125 inch shank mounted flap wheel suitable for use with die grinders, rotary tools, and flex-shaft machines that accept 0.125 inch shank accessories.
Installation is performed by inserting the 0.125 inch shank into the collet of a compatible rotary tool or die grinder and tightening securely before operation. Always confirm the tool's RPM rating meets or exceeds the wheel's 37,000 RPM maximum before use. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and do not use a wheel that shows signs of wear through to the core. Eye protection and appropriate PPE should be worn in accordance with applicable safety standards when operating abrasive wheels.
