The MERIT ABRASIVES 08834135003 is a threaded-mount flap wheel designed for surface finishing, blending, and deburring on metal and other hard materials. The wheel measures 3 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch face width and carries a 120-grit ceramic alumina abrasive on a cloth backing. Ceramic alumina cuts aggressively and self-sharpens during use, making it well suited for consistent stock removal on steel, stainless, and hard alloys. At a maximum operating speed of 20,000 RPM, it handles high-speed die grinders and rotary tools used in fabrication and maintenance work. The fine grade finish makes it appropriate for final blending passes before surface treatment or inspection.
This flap wheel fits typical threaded-spindle die grinders and is used in metal fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing environments where controlled surface finishing is required. It is suited for weld blending, edge deburring, and contour finishing on workpieces where a flat grinding wheel cannot reach. The 1/2-inch face width allows work in tight areas and on curved profiles. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this style of mounted abrasive.
Designed for use with threaded-spindle die grinders and rotary tools rated at or above 20,000 RPM. Verify spindle thread size and maximum RPM rating of the tool before mounting.
Installation is performed by threading the mounted wheel directly onto a compatible die grinder spindle — ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the tool is disconnected from power before mounting or removing the wheel. Never exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and discard if cracks, missing flaps, or deformation are present. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during operation per ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel standards.
