The MERIT 3414d-2006 is a reducing pipe bushing machined from 304/304L stainless steel and rated for service up to 3,000 psi. It transitions a 1-1/4 inch male NPT thread down to a 3/8 inch female NPT thread, making it a direct-threaded reducer for high-pressure piping assemblies. The 304/304L dual-grade material provides reliable corrosion resistance in wet and mildly corrosive environments. This bushing is a compact, single-piece fitting installed by threading into an existing female port, then accepting a smaller male-threaded pipe or fitting on the interior thread.
This bushing suits residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and industrial process lines where a threaded size reduction is needed in a 304 stainless steel system. Typical applications include chilled water lines, compressed air headers, steam service at appropriate pressure ratings, and general pipe assemblies requiring corrosion-resistant fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of bushing as part of new construction or retrofit work where a reducing coupling is not practical.
Designed as a standard threaded pipe bushing for use in 1-1/4 inch NPT female ports requiring a 3/8 inch NPT male outlet in 304 stainless steel piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and IFGC code requirements. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the connection. Do not use pipe wrenches or excessive torque on stainless steel threads to avoid galling — use a proper fitting wrench and hand-tighten before applying final turns.
