The MCGUIRE LFBV185 is a convertible quarter-turn brass ball valve designed for closet supply applications in residential and light commercial plumbing. The valve connects a 1/2 inch copper sweat inlet to a 3/8 inch OD outlet, allowing a licensed plumber to shut off water supply to a toilet with a single 90-degree handle turn. The chrome plated finish provides corrosion resistance in exposed installations. The convertible design gives installers flexibility in how the outlet is configured at the point of connection to the fixture supply line.
This valve is used in toilet closet supply installations where the main supply line is 1/2 inch copper and the toilet fill valve requires a 3/8 inch OD compression fitting. It is a standard rough-in and trim-out component used during new construction, remodel, and fixture replacement work by plumbing contractors and service technicians. The quarter-turn ball valve mechanism provides reliable, low-maintenance shutoff performance compared to older multi-turn compression stop designs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation stop valve for residential and light commercial toilet closet supply connections using 1/2 inch copper sweat supply lines and 3/8 inch OD outlet fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the main water supply and drain the line before sweating the valve onto the copper supply stub-out. Allow the valve body to cool completely before connecting the 3/8 inch OD supply line to prevent damage to internal seals. Keep the ball valve in the open position during the sweat connection to protect the valve seat from heat damage.
