The McDonnell & Miller E-8 is a float-actuated liquid level switch designed for monitoring and regulating liquid levels in storage tanks. It is intended primarily for Grade 2 fuel oil applications with a specific gravity of 0.85 or greater. The E-8 threads directly into a 2-1/2-inch NPT tapping in the side of the tank and uses a single-pole, double-throw switch to provide high or low level control functions.
The switch can be used for high or low level alarms, signals, cut-off applications, or automatic pump control. Its float-operated mechanism can be configured to start or stop a pump based on the liquid level. The E-8 has a maximum operating pressure of 5 psi and a maximum temperature rating of 190 degrees Fahrenheit.
The McDonnell & Miller E-8 provides dependable liquid level monitoring and control for compatible fuel oil storage tanks. Its direct-thread installation eliminates the need for separate equalizing piping used with the Model 80, while the SPDT switching arrangement allows the control to be configured for different high and low level functions.
