The MAZE NAILS T4491A530 is a double hot-dipped galvanized ring shank nail designed for use with pressure-treated lumber in deck construction and other exterior applications. These 16d nails measure 3.5 inches in length with a 9-gauge shank. The stiffer stock steel used in manufacturing allows for a smaller shank diameter, which helps reduce wood splitting without sacrificing structural integrity. The double hot-dip galvanizing process coats each nail in molten zinc twice, delivering corrosion resistance that matches the service life of modern pressure-treated lumber. Each box contains 270 nails and weighs 5 pounds.
These nails are intended for exterior wood framing, deck board fastening, and other applications where contact with ACQ or similar pressure-treated lumber is expected. Producers of treated lumber and many local building codes require hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel fasteners because standard bright or electroplated nails will corrode prematurely when in contact with treated wood chemistry. The ring shank profile delivers holding power well above that of smooth-shank nails, making this nail appropriate for decking, ledger boards, and structural connections exposed to weather and moisture cycles.
Designed for use with pressure-treated lumber in residential and light commercial exterior construction where hot-dip galvanized fasteners are specified by lumber producers or local building codes.
Galvanized ring shank nails are typically driven by a qualified carpenter or framing contractor using a framing nailer or hammer rated for 16d nails. Confirm nailer compatibility with ring shank nail profiles before use, as some pneumatic nailers require specific magazine settings for ring shank stock. Follow applicable building code fastener schedules for deck ledger and joist connections. Avoid mixing galvanized and non-galvanized fasteners in the same assembly, as dissimilar metals can accelerate corrosion.
