The MAZE NAILS H55S530 is a hardened steel fluted masonry nail designed for mechanical fastening into concrete, block, and masonry substrates. At 4d and 1.5 inches in length with a 9-gauge shank, these nails provide reliable holding power for light-to-medium masonry fastening tasks. The fluted shank geometry displaces material as the nail is driven, increasing resistance to pullout. Each box contains 645 nails and weighs 5 pounds, making it a practical stocking unit for production framing and finish crews working around masonry.
These nails are suited for fastening furring strips, floor plates, and partition wall bottom plates to concrete or block. Applications include residential and light commercial framing where wood members must be secured directly to masonry surfaces. The 5/16-inch head diameter provides adequate bearing surface to resist pull-through on standard dimensional lumber. Best results are achieved when nails are driven at least 3 inches from the edge of masonry or block, with a minimum penetration of 0.75 inches into the substrate. Safety glasses are required when driving hardened nails due to the risk of spalling or nail fragment ejection.
Designed for use in concrete, block, and masonry substrates where furring strips, floor plates, and partition wall plates require mechanical fastening.
Installation is typically performed by framing carpenters or masonry contractors using a hand hammer or powder-actuated tool rated for hardened nails. Always wear ANSI-rated safety glasses when driving hardened masonry nails, as hardened steel can spall or fracture on impact. Drive nails no closer than 3 inches from any edge of masonry or block to prevent substrate cracking, and ensure a minimum of 0.75 inches of nail penetration into the masonry. Consult applicable building codes for fastener spacing requirements at floor plates and partition walls.
