The MAZE NAILS H53S530 is a hardened steel fluted masonry nail designed for mechanically fastening building materials directly to concrete, block, and masonry substrates. At 1 inch in length and 9 gauge in diameter, this 2d nail features a fluted shank that bites into masonry material to resist pull-out. The 5/16-inch head provides solid bearing surface for the driven material. Each box contains approximately 880 nails at a net weight of 5 pounds, making it a practical quantity for framing and furring applications on masonry walls. Licensed contractors and experienced tradespeople install these nails using a hand hammer or powder-actuated tool on appropriate substrates.
The H53S530 is suited for fastening furring strips, floor plates, and partition walls to masonry or concrete block. These nails are commonly used in residential and light commercial construction where wood framing members or nailer plates must be anchored to a masonry surface. The fluted shank geometry increases holding power in block and poured concrete compared to a smooth-shank nail of the same gauge.
Designed for use in concrete, concrete block, and similar masonry substrates where furring strips, floor plates, and partition wall bottom plates require mechanical fastening.
Installation should be performed by a qualified carpenter, mason, or general contractor familiar with masonry fastening methods. Always wear safety glasses when driving hardened steel nails, as spalling or chip-off from the nail or substrate can occur. Drive nails no closer than 3 inches from the edge of masonry or block to avoid cracking, and ensure a minimum of 3/4 inch penetration into the masonry for adequate hold. Power down or de-energize any embedded conduit or utility lines in the masonry wall before fastening.
