The MAZE NAILS H528A050 is a bulk-pack of oil-quenched hardened ring shank pole barn nails used to fasten structural framing, sheathing, and cladding in pole barn and post-frame construction. Each nail is 40d (penny), 5 inches in length, and formed from 5.5-gauge wire. The oil-quench hardening process increases shank hardness for driving into dense framing lumber without bending. The ring shank profile provides superior withdrawal resistance compared to smooth-shank fasteners, keeping connections tight under load, vibration, and seasonal wood movement. This 50-pound bulk carton contains approximately 1,150 nails, making it practical for large framing jobs where productivity matters.
These nails are intended for pole barn framing, post-frame agricultural buildings, and heavy-duty wood construction where a hardened, high-withdrawal-resistance fastener is required. Typical applications include attaching girts, purlins, and roof framing to structural posts, as well as securing wall and roof sheathing panels. Carpenters, agricultural construction crews, and general contractors working on post-frame structures are the primary installers of this fastener type.
Designed for use in pole barn, post-frame, and heavy wood-framing applications requiring a hardened ring shank nail. Compatible with standard pneumatic framing nailers and hand-driving that accept bulk stick or loose nails of this gauge, as well as manual installation with a framing hammer.
Installation is performed by carpenters and general construction crews following applicable building codes for post-frame structures. Safety glasses are required when driving hardened nails, as the hardened shank increases the risk of nail fragments or shank fracture under improper striking. Ensure framing members are properly aligned and braced before fastening. When using a pneumatic nailer, confirm the tool is rated for the nail gauge and length before loading.
