The MATCO-NORCA dun-ea07lf is a 1-1/2-inch female-threaded dielectric union designed to isolate dissimilar metals in water piping systems and prevent galvanic corrosion. Rated lead free to meet current drinking water standards, this fitting connects two FPT (female pipe thread) ends and provides the electrical isolation required where copper and steel or iron pipe meet. It is a standard component in residential and commercial plumbing, water heater installations, and hydronic heating systems. Licensed plumbers install this fitting when code requires galvanic isolation at the point where two different pipe materials join.
This dielectric union is suited for potable water supply lines and domestic hot and cold water distribution systems. It is commonly installed at water heater connections, boiler supply and return lines, and any transition point between ferrous and non-ferrous piping. The FPT x FPT configuration threads directly onto male-threaded pipe or nipples on both sides of the joint. Its lead-free construction satisfies requirements of the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act and applicable state plumbing codes for use in potable water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation dielectric union for 1-1/2-inch female-threaded piping connections in residential and commercial plumbing systems requiring galvanic isolation.
This fitting is installed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly; do not overtighten, as this can crack the dielectric sleeve. Verify the union is oriented so the dielectric insulator remains intact and the two metal halves do not make electrical contact after installation.
