The MATCO-NORCA 165-007 is a dielectric union designed to connect dissimilar metals in water supply piping systems by electrically isolating the joined segments. The female iron pipe (FIP) to female brass pipe (FBP) configuration provides a secure threaded connection on both ends while the internal dielectric barrier prevents galvanic corrosion at the joint. At 1-1/2 inches, this fitting is suited for main supply lines and commercial-grade residential plumbing runs where corrosion protection at metal transitions is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting where steel or iron pipe meets copper or brass components.
Dielectric unions like the 165-007 are used in potable water supply systems, hydronic heating systems, and commercial plumbing applications where ferrous and non-ferrous metals are joined. The 1-1/2-inch size is common in larger residential water mains, light commercial supply lines, and heating plant connections. This fitting is appropriate wherever code requires isolation of dissimilar metals to prevent accelerated pipe deterioration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation dielectric union for 1-1/2-inch FIP and FBP threaded plumbing connections in potable water and hydronic systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before disassembling or installing any union fitting. Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid; do not over-torque threaded connections. Verify the internal dielectric sleeve is fully seated before tightening the union nut.
