The MARS mars-85397 is a 3/8 inch NM cable connector designed to secure nonmetallic sheathed cable at electrical enclosure knockouts. This fitting clamps NM cable firmly in place, providing strain relief and a clean entry point into junction boxes, panels, and outlet boxes. It ships as a card of four connectors, making it a practical buy for jobs requiring multiple connections. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of fitting during rough-in wiring on residential and light commercial projects. Proper connector use is required by the NEC to protect cable sheathing at enclosure entries.
This connector is suited for residential wiring applications where NM cable, commonly known as Romex-style cable, is routed into metallic or compatible enclosures. The 3/8 inch size corresponds to the standard knockout diameter used with typical 14/2 and 12/2 NM cable on branch circuit runs. It is commonly installed during new construction framing stages or during panel and device box rough-in work. Each card includes four connectors, supporting multi-outlet or multi-circuit work with a single purchase.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 3/8 inch knockouts on standard electrical enclosures accepting nonmetallic sheathed cable connectors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and confirm the enclosure is not live before installing or removing cable connectors. Insert the connector body through the knockout, secure the locknut firmly by hand and snug with a screwdriver or strap wrench, then feed and clamp the NM cable before tightening the connector clamp screw. Do not over-tighten the clamp screw, as this can damage cable sheathing and conductors.
