The MARS mars-83221 is a 20-amp, 2-pole ITE-style circuit breaker designed for use in residential and light commercial electrical panels. It provides overcurrent protection by interrupting the circuit when current exceeds the rated amperage. Licensed electricians install this breaker as a direct replacement in compatible load centers and panelboards. The double-pole configuration makes it suitable for protecting 240-volt branch circuits, such as those serving HVAC equipment, water heaters, and other dual-leg loads. Its ITE-style form factor allows it to fit panels that accept Q-series breakers.
This breaker is commonly specified in replacement and retrofit applications where an existing Q220-style breaker has failed or been recalled. It is appropriate for residential panelboards and light commercial distribution boards that accept 2-pole, 20-amp Q-series breakers. Electricians working on HVAC disconnect circuits, subpanel feeds, or appliance branch circuits will encounter this style of breaker regularly in service and repair work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement 2-pole circuit breaker for panelboards and load centers that accept ITE Q-series breakers.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the panel at the utility disconnect or main breaker before removing or installing any branch circuit breaker. Verify that the panel brand and series accept ITE Q-series breakers before installation. Do not exceed the breaker's rated ampacity when sizing the connected branch circuit conductors.
