The MARKAL 81020 is a hot surface paint stick marker rated for use on surfaces ranging from 2250 to 11000 degrees F (1070 to 5930 degrees C). It applies a white mark directly to metal and other high-temperature surfaces, leaving a visible line that withstands extreme heat. This type of marker is a standard tool in industrial and trade settings where conventional ink markers would burn off instantly. Ironworkers, forge operators, foundry technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals use it to mark coils, billets, castings, ingots, plates, rails, beams, and glass during high-heat processing operations.
The 81020 is suited for heavy industrial environments where surfaces are too hot for standard marking tools. Typical applications include steel mills, foundries, glass manufacturing lines, and fabrication shops. The paint stick format allows direct contact marking on hot substrates without requiring a cool-down period, keeping production workflows moving. It is sold individually and is lightweight enough to carry in a tool pouch or work apron.
Designed for direct marking on coils, billets and bars, castings and pigs, ingots and plates, rails and beams, and glass surfaces operating within the rated temperature range.
This product is a consumable marking tool, not an installed component. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including heat-resistant gloves, when marking surfaces at elevated temperatures. Follow facility safety protocols and applicable OSHA guidelines when working near high-heat industrial equipment. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct heat sources when not in use.
