The MAKITA XFD12R is an 18-volt cordless drill/driver built around a brushless motor and a 1/2-inch chuck. The brushless motor delivers up to 60 Newton-meters of torque while drawing less energy than a brushed alternative, extending runtime per charge. Two speed ranges span 0 to 2,000 RPM, giving the operator control for both drilling and driving applications. The drill ships with two BL1820B 18-volt LXT Lithium-ion batteries, a DC18RC rapid charger, and a tool case. Licensed trades and experienced DIYers working on residential and light commercial projects will find this a capable primary or backup drill.
This drill is suited to residential new construction, remodel work, and mechanical rough-in tasks where a compact, cordless platform is preferred. The LXT battery system is a platform-compatible solution, making it a practical addition for any crew already running MAKITA 18-volt LXT tools. The pistol-grip handle, reversible chuck, and two-speed gearbox support both standard drilling and fastener-driving tasks across wood, light metal, and composite substrates.
Batteries (BL1820B) and charger (DC18RC) are compatible with the MAKITA 18-volt LXT battery platform. Replacement battery part number is BL1820B; replacement charger part number is DC18RC.
Installation and operation should follow the manufacturer instructions included with the tool. Disconnect or remove the battery pack before changing bits or performing any maintenance. When used in electrical or mechanical trade applications, comply with applicable OSHA, NEC, or local code requirements for power tool use in the work environment. Inspect the chuck and battery contacts before each use to confirm secure seating.
