The Makita BO5030K is a 5 inch random orbit sander built for finish work, surface preparation, and stock removal on wood, metal, and composite materials. Powered by a 3.0-amp motor spinning at 12,000 orbits per minute, it delivers fast, swirl-free results across a wide range of sanding applications. The 1/8 inch random orbit action reduces cross-grain scratching and leaves a cleaner surface than straight-line or orbital-only sanders. A pad control system manages pad speed at startup to prevent gouging or swirl marks on sensitive surfaces. Licensed tradespeople and finish carpenters reach for this tool when surface quality and job-site dust control both matter.
The BO5030K is suited for residential and light commercial finish work including cabinetry, trim, flooring prep, and painted surface feathering. The through-the-pad dust collection system pulls debris directly from the sanding surface into the included dust bag, keeping the work area cleaner and extending abrasive life. It accepts quick-change 5 inch 8-hole hook-and-loop abrasive discs, which are widely available and fast to swap mid-job. The rubberized grip reduces fatigue during extended overhead or detail passes. The kit ships with one abrasive disc, a dust bag, and a tool case for organized transport and storage.
Designed for use with 5 inch 8-hole hook-and-loop abrasive discs. Compatible abrasive paper is widely available from multiple manufacturers in this standard size and hole pattern.
This tool is used by finish carpenters, woodworkers, and general contractors and does not require licensed trade installation. Before connecting to power, confirm the abrasive disc is fully seated on the hook-and-loop pad and the dust bag or vacuum attachment is secured. Always disconnect from power before changing abrasive discs or clearing the dust collection path. Operate with appropriate respiratory protection in accordance with OSHA dust exposure guidelines when sanding materials that generate fine particulate.
