The box integrates a built-in hole saw that cuts the correct-diameter opening in one pass, along with a center-mounted piercing drill bit that keeps the cut on location. Raised mounting rings with a center hole are molded into the back wall to support surface-mount installations on basement framing or attic studs. The unit is rated for fixtures up to 6 pounds and has a depth of 2.5 inches. Licensed electricians install this box as part of standard rough-in or retrofit work.

The MSBST250 is suited for residential old-work ceiling applications where cutting into finished drywall ceilings is required.
