The MADISON ELECTRIC MSBHZ is a 1-gang horizontal PVC molded wall box built for electricians working in new or old work applications. Constructed from extra-thick polyvinyl chloride, the box delivers structural rigidity without metal hardware that can corrode or loosen over time. The 1-piece molded design eliminates moving parts, reducing the chance of on-site component loss during rough-in. Interior mounting screws are rated to 42 pounds and allow depth adjustment to accommodate tile, paneling, and other specialty wall finishes. Built-in wire clamps and fully threaded 6/32 device holes are included as standard, streamlining device termination and reducing the number of loose hardware pieces on the job.
The MSBHZ is designed for locations where swinging a hammer is not practical, such as tight framing bays or retrofit scenarios where final wall surface thickness is not yet determined. Because it always mounts directly to a stud, whether wood or 25-gauge metal, the box provides a secure, code-friendly anchor point regardless of the installation phase. This makes it equally useful during initial rough-in on new construction and during device replacement or panel upgrade work in finished spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-work solution for 1-gang horizontal wall box applications in residential and light commercial electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local amendments. De-energize the circuit at the panel and verify zero voltage with a meter before pulling or connecting any conductors. Secure the box to the stud before setting final wall surface depth, using the adjustable mounting screws to align the face flush with the finished wall. Do not overtighten device screws beyond the thread engagement depth of the molded PVC to avoid stripping the threaded holes.
