The M-D BUILDING PRODUCTS 02238 is a self-adhesive closed-cell PVC foam weatherstrip tape designed to seal gaps around doors and windows. The tape measures 0.25 inches wide and 0.125 inches thick, supplied in a 17-foot roll. Its closed-cell foam construction resists air infiltration, dust, and moisture intrusion at the seal point. The pressure-sensitive adhesive backing allows direct application without additional fasteners or tools. This product is suited for residential and light commercial weatherization work performed by general contractors, carpenters, handypeople, and building maintenance technicians.
This weatherstrip tape is commonly applied around interior and exterior door frames, window sashes, sliding glass doors, and similar framed openings where minor gaps allow conditioned air, dust, or moisture to pass through. The gray color blends into painted or primed surfaces. The 17-foot roll length covers a standard full door perimeter in a single pass with material remaining for overlap or trim cuts. It is also used in HVAC duct access panels and equipment cabinet seams where a light compressible seal is needed.
Designed as a general-purpose compressible seal for residential and light commercial door and window frames where a 0.25 inch wide by 0.125 inch thick foam profile is appropriate for the gap being sealed.
Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or loose paint before applying the adhesive-backed foam. Peel the liner and press the tape firmly along the door stop or window sash, working in continuous runs to avoid gaps at joints. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as elongation reduces the adhesive bond. No special tools or trade licensing are required, though building envelope work on commercial properties may fall under local energy code compliance requirements.
