The M.A. FORD HPDCR2812A is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with an ALtima coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup during aggressive cuts. It features a 140-degree drill point angle optimized for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The helical flute geometry and coolant-through design work together to clear chips efficiently and keep cutting temperatures in check. At 0.2812 inches (9/32 inch) in diameter with a 3.58-inch overall length, it fits standard jobber-length applications. Right-hand cutting direction with a straight-cylindrical shank makes it compatible with conventional drill chucks and CNC toolholding systems.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking, machining, and fabrication environments where carbide tooling is preferred over high-speed steel. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two-flute helical design support both hand-fed drill press work and CNC-controlled operations. Typical applications include drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened alloys, and other abrasion-resistant materials. It is commonly used by machinists, tool and die makers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in production or job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit drill bit for applications requiring a 9/32 inch (0.2812 inch) diameter jobber length carbide bit in the HPDCR series size range of 0.2500 to 0.3000 decimal inch.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and tooling technicians using standard three-jaw drill chucks or collet-style CNC toolholders. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for carbide tooling before beginning a cut. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured to prevent movement. Engage coolant flow before starting the cut when using the coolant-through feature to protect the cutting edge.
