The M.A. FORD CXDCS1360AP is a stub-length (screw machine) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Sized at wire gauge No. 29, it cuts a 0.1360-inch diameter hole with a 142-degree split point that reduces thrust and improves center-finding accuracy. The two-flute, regular spiral geometry paired with an ALtima Plus (AlCrN) coating provides thermal and wear resistance during dry or high-speed machining. The bit measures 2.44 inches overall length with a 0.1562-inch straight cylindrical shank and features coolant-through capability, making it suitable for CNC machining centers and automated drilling applications where chip evacuation and tool life are critical.
This drill bit is engineered for use in metals including cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, and titanium. The stub-length body increases rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in tight-tolerance applications. It is well suited for production machining shops, tool rooms, and precision fabrication operations where consistent hole quality across high cycle counts is required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports effective chip removal in these materials without excessive tool loading.
Designed for use in cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and titanium workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1562-inch shank diameter. Part of the M.A. FORD CXDCS series of carbide stub drill bits.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide cutting tool handling. Solid carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed and speed adjustments, and contact with hard surfaces during handling or storage. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before installing small-diameter carbide tools to prevent premature breakage. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the drilling application and workpiece material.
