The M.A. FORD 79125003 is a 6-flute high-speed steel countersink designed for right-hand cutting at a 90-degree included angle. With a 1-1/4 inch head diameter and a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this single-end tool mounts in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held power drills wherever a rigid, repeatable countersink is needed. The bright, uncoated finish preserves the base HSS hardness without added coating thickness, making it well-suited for applications where close dimensional control is required. At 3 inches overall length, it provides adequate clearance for most fixture setups. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This countersink is built for production and maintenance machining environments where a wide range of workpiece materials must be processed at a single station. It handles chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations across alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The 6-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter on harder materials and improving finish quality on softer ones. The tool does not include a pilot and is a head-only countersink, so workpiece positioning is operator-controlled.
Designed for use in any machine tool or power drill accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, CNC mills, and hand-held drills. Suitable for the full range of materials listed in the application data above.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or chuck. Secure the shank to the full recommended grip depth and verify runout before cutting. Do not exceed the spindle speed range appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter as specified in the machine manufacturer or tooling reference data.
