The M.A. FORD 79050003 is a 6-flute, single-end countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations on a wide range of materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 90-degree included angle and a 45-degree centerline angle. The 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 2 inches overall length and a 1/2-inch head diameter, this tool is sized for general-purpose bench and machine work. No pilot is included. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and fabricators install this type of countersink on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill motors.
This countersink is suited for production and maintenance applications where clean, consistent 90-degree countersunk seats are required. It handles a broad material range including mild steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard clockwise-rotating spindles found on the vast majority of machine tools. It is well matched to screw clearance and fastener seat preparation tasks in light manufacturing, fabrication shops, and MRO environments.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
This tool is installed by machinists and fabricators using standard drill press, milling machine, or CNC spindle tooling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the appropriate holding depth to prevent slippage under cutting load. Run at speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter - consult published HSS cutting speed tables for guidance.
