The M.A. FORD. 79037506 is a 6-flute high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. It features a 120-degree included angle (60-degree centerline angle) and a 3/8-inch head diameter, making it well suited for standard countersunk fastener seat preparation. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, and the tool runs 2 inches in overall length. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose cutting across a wide range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical installers.
This countersink is designed for use in manual or CNC drilling operations where a clean, accurate countersunk seat is required. Its 6-flute geometry produces a smoother surface finish than single- or double-flute designs and reduces chatter on harder materials. Compatible workpiece materials include alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. It is a single-end tool with no pilot and no head-only configuration, so it is used as a complete, ready-to-run unit in a standard drill chuck or collet holder.
Designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring in alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic workpieces. Fits any drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center equipped with a 1/4-inch straight-shank toolholder or collet.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill chuck or ER collet rated for the 1/4-inch shank diameter. Secure the shank fully within the holder and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality. Inspect flute edges for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the tool if cutting edges are damaged.
