The M.A. FORD. 79037504 is a 6-flute, single-end countersink made from high-speed steel (HSS), designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metalworking and fabrication environments. It features a 100-degree included angle (50-degree centerline angle), a 3/8-inch head diameter, and a straight-cylindrical 1/4-inch shank. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose cutting across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 2 inches overall length, it fits standard drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power tools. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This countersink is suited for production and maintenance applications in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and industrial maintenance environments. It is compatible with a broad range of materials including alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, cast iron, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The 6-flute geometry provides a smooth cutting action and reduces chatter compared to single- or double-flute designs, making it appropriate for finish-quality chamfer work on drilled holes.
Designed for use with materials including alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, cast iron, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. Fits any chuck or collet accepting a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this countersink should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm the spindle is at a full stop before tool changes. Set spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter per standard machining feeds-and-speeds tables. Do not force the tool into the cut; allow the flutes to clear chips freely to prevent tool breakage.
