The M.A. FORD. 79031204 is a 6-flute, single-end countersink with a 100-degree included angle, designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations on a wide range of materials. The tool is machined from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank for direct chuck mounting. Overall length is 2 inches, and the head diameter measures 5/16 inch. The tip diameter is 0.080 inches. It cuts right-hand and is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes. Machinists, toolmakers, and fabrication shops are the primary users of this tool type.
This countersink is applicable across a broad spectrum of materials including alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, cast iron, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. It is well suited for production and maintenance environments where consistent chamfer geometry and clean deburring are required on drilled or punched holes. The 100-degree included angle, rather than the more common 82-degree or 90-degree angle, addresses fastener seating profiles and chamfer requirements specific to certain aerospace, marine, and industrial hardware standards.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard-stock countersink for use with drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual machine tools accepting a 1/4-inch straight shank. Compatible with the full material list stated in the product specifications: alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. Always bring the spindle to a complete stop before adjusting depth or repositioning the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous materials and stainless steel to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup.
