The M.A. FORD. 79025001 is a 6-flute high-speed steel countersink designed for precision chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metalworking and fabrication environments. It features a 60-degree included angle (30-degree centerline angle) with a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 1/4 inch in diameter. Overall length is 2 inches. The bright, uncoated finish is suited to a wide range of general-purpose cutting applications. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, CNC machines, or handheld power tools.
This countersink is well suited to production and maintenance shops handling a broad material mix. It is designed for right-hand cutting and performs reliably on alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The single-end, no-pilot configuration keeps the tool compact and straightforward to deploy in standard countersinking setups. It is a practical choice wherever consistent 60-degree seat geometry is required across multiple material types.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch straight-shank collets or drill chucks on drill presses, milling machines, and handheld power tools. Compatible materials include alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic.
Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before engaging the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when working with harder materials such as stainless steel or high-nickel alloys to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and remove the tool from service if damage is observed.
