The M.A. FORD 79018704 is a single-end, 6-flute high-speed steel countersink designed for right-hand cutting applications. With a 100-degree included angle and a 3/16-inch shank diameter, it handles chamfering, countersinking, and deburring across a wide range of materials. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The bright, uncoated finish is suitable for general-purpose shop use. At 1.5 inches overall length, it is compact enough for use in tight access areas. This tool is used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and general fabricators working on precision hole finishing.
This countersink is built for production and maintenance environments where consistent chamfer quality is required. The 6-flute geometry reduces chatter and produces a cleaner finish compared to single- or three-flute designs. It is rated for use on alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, Monel, and plastic. The 0.040-inch tip diameter allows the tool to start on a pre-drilled hole without a pilot. No pilot is included or required for standard countersinking operations.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink compatible with standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drilling equipment accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations on alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
Install in a drill press, milling machine, or CNC spindle using a collet or drill chuck that accepts a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly before starting the cut. Apply cutting fluid when working on ferrous or stainless materials to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the tool if edges are degraded to avoid poor chamfer geometry.
