The M.A. FORD 78062506 is a solid carbide countersink designed for precision chamfering, countersinking, and deburring across a wide range of materials. It features a 120-degree included angle and a 6-flute right-hand cutting geometry, producing smooth, consistent seat finishes with reduced chatter. The 5/8-inch head diameter and 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 2-3/8 inches overall length, it offers good reach without sacrificing rigidity. This tool is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with metalworking and fabrication equipment.
This countersink is suited for both production and maintenance applications in shop environments handling alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, mild steel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, and plastic. Its single-end, no-pilot design gives the operator direct control over placement and depth. Typical use cases include spot-facing fastener seats, deburring drilled holes, and preparing countersunk screw clearances in manual or CNC drilling setups.
Designed for use in chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations on alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel. Fits standard 3/8-inch collet chucks and drill press spindles.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the shank firmly in the collet or chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before changing or adjusting the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
