The M.A. FORD 78018703 is a solid carbide countersink designed for precision chamfering, countersinking, and deburring across a wide range of materials. Built with a 90-degree included angle and six flutes, this tool delivers clean, consistent results in both production and maintenance environments. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/16 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 1.5 inches. Its right-hand cutting direction and single-end design make it straightforward to set up in a standard drill press or CNC spindle. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators working in metal shops or manufacturing facilities are the primary users.
This countersink is suited for work on alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. Its compact size makes it practical for close-tolerance countersinking on smaller fastener locations. The solid carbide construction holds up well in high-cycle production runs and when working harder materials where high-speed steel tooling would wear prematurely. It does not include a pilot and is sold as a single-end tool.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for countersinking standard fastener seats in alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, and plastic workpieces.
Installation and use of this countersink should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify that spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is clamped securely before engaging the tool. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and remove the tool from service if damage is observed.
