The M.A. FORD 61T037502 is a single-flute countersink designed for precision hole chamfering and seat preparation across a wide range of materials. Built from high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The 82-degree included angle suits standard fastener seating applications. With a 3/8-inch maximum cutting diameter and a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this tool mounts directly into standard drill chucks and collet holders. Overall length is 2 inches, keeping the tool compact and controllable in both handheld and machine setups. Right-hand cutting rotation is standard. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This countersink is suited for production and maintenance applications where consistent countersink geometry is required. It is rated for use in alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The TiN finish makes it particularly effective in abrasive or harder material applications where uncoated HSS tooling wears quickly. It performs well in manual drilling, drill press, CNC, and turret lathe setups where a 1/4-inch shank is accepted.
Designed as an OEM-style countersink for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drill applications accepting a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible materials include alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Secure the shank firmly to the recommended collet or chuck torque spec per machine manufacturer guidelines. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to maximize coating life and surface finish quality.
