The M.A. FORD 61062506 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations in metal and non-metal materials. It features a 120-degree included angle with a 5/8-inch head diameter and a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank. Overall length is 2.25 inches. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose shop use where coating is not required. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard drill press and hand drill setups. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance technicians reach for this style of countersink when preparing fastener seats or cleaning up hole edges across a wide range of stock materials.
This countersink is suited for use in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance environments handling both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It performs in alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-tensile steel, high-nickel steel, Monel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastic. The single-flute design provides a smooth, chatter-resistant cut that is especially useful when working softer metals and plastics where multi-flute tools can grab. No pilot is included, so the operator controls positioning by feel or fixture.
Designed for use in alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel applications requiring a 120-degree countersink profile with a 1/4-inch shank.
Secure the 1/4-inch shank in a drill chuck, drill press, or milling machine collet and confirm it is fully seated and tightened before operation. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting the tool. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid when working hardened steels or stainless to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Inspect the single cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged flute will produce an uneven chamfer.
