The M.A. FORD. 61018701 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations. It features a 60-degree included angle with a 3/16-inch shank diameter and a straight-cylindrical shank profile. Overall length measures 1.5 inches. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose metal removal across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this tool in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC setups where controlled chamfer geometry is required on drilled or punched holes.
This countersink is suited for light-duty chamfering and deburring work in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The single-flute design reduces chatter on soft and gummy materials, making it effective on aluminum, brass, magnesium alloy, and plastic, as well as on harder materials including alloy steel, cast iron, stainless steel, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, Monel, and mild steel. The compact 1.5-inch overall length allows use in confined setups and shorter-reach toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style single-flute countersink for use in any drill chuck, collet, or toolholder accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for chamfering and deburring across a broad range of workpiece materials including alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom professionals. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify that the machine spindle is at a complete stop before tool changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Follow shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection appropriate to the material being cut.
