The M.A. FORD 61012501 is a single-flute, high-speed steel countersink designed for chamfering, countersinking, and deburring operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 60-degree included angle (30-degree centerline angle) and a bright, uncoated finish suited for general-purpose cutting. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/8 inch in diameter, and the tool has an overall length of 1.5 inches. The 0.03-inch tip diameter makes it appropriate for fine, controlled entry at the start of the countersink. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC spindle use. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision fabricators are the typical end users.
This countersink is intended for use on a broad spectrum of materials including mild steel, alloy steel, high-tensile steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-nickel steel, Monel, brass, aluminum, magnesium, magnesium alloy, and plastics. Its small shank diameter and compact overall length make it well-suited for light-duty bench work, deburring on finished components, and preparing countersunk fastener seats in tight workspaces or thin-section parts. It is a single-end tool with no pilot and no countersink head-only configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style countersink for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine tool equipped with a collet or chuck accepting a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include alloy steel, aluminum, brass, cast iron, high-nickel steel, high-tensile steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, mild steel, Monel, plastic, and stainless steel.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation, and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting the tool. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters, and inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use.
