The M.A. FORD. 3MVS0468N10AH is a square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN, this tool delivers hardness and heat resistance needed for high-speed cutting in ferrous and difficult alloy materials. The cutter measures 0.0468 inches (3/64 inches) in diameter with a 2.5-inch overall length and a 1/8-inch shank diameter. A variable helix geometry of 31 to 35 degrees reduces chatter and harmonics during the cut, improving surface finish and tool life. Three flutes provide chip clearance while maintaining rigidity at this small diameter. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this single-end configuration.
This end mill is suited for close-tolerance milling operations in CNC machining centers, die and mold work, and precision finishing passes where small cutter diameters are required. The stub length-of-cut range of 0.07 inches is appropriate for light axial engagements typical of miniature feature machining. Extended reach geometry adds versatility for pockets and cavities where additional clearance is needed. The AlTiN coating makes this tool a practical choice when cutting hardened steels, stainless steel, titanium, and similar heat-generating workpiece materials at elevated spindle speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 1/8-inch collet or toolholder capable of accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the collet or toolholder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full recommended engagement depth. Torque the collet nut to toolholder manufacturer specifications using the appropriate spanner wrench. Verify runout at the cutting edge before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can cause tool breakage at this small diameter.
