The M.A. FORD. 30202950 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding materials. It features a 0.0295-inch (0.75 mm) diameter with a 130-degree split point and a fast spiral flute geometry that promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting resistance. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.18 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 38 mm (approximately 1.496 inches). Designed for right-hand cutting with two flutes, this bit is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals who require tight-tolerance holes in hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
This micro drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held spindles where small-diameter hole accuracy is critical. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and general steel. Secondary workpiece materials include alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, tool steel, and special alloys. The bright, uncoated finish makes it suitable for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece or cutting fluid must be avoided. It belongs to M.A. FORD. Series 302 and is sold individually.
Designed as a Series 302 micro drill bit compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders accepting a 3.18 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use on cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, non-ferrous metals, tool steel, and special alloys as stated by the manufacturer.
This micro drill bit should be installed by a qualified machinist in a collet or chuck rated for the 3.18 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the bit to avoid runout. When drilling at this diameter, use the lowest feed rate that maintains chip evacuation and monitor for bit deflection. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external cutting fluid or mist cooling is recommended for extended runs in hard materials.
