The M.A. FORD. 30016100 is a solid carbide, fast spiral circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in electronics manufacturing, PCB fabrication, and light machining applications. Built to wire gauge size 20 with a decimal inch diameter of 0.1610 inches (4.09 mm), this bit features a 118-degree drill point angle and a 35-degree helix angle. The fast spiral geometry promotes aggressive chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and improving hole quality in thin or layered materials. It is intended for use by machinists, electronics technicians, and trade professionals requiring tight-tolerance, repeatable drilling performance.
This drill bit is suited for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, plastics, and steel. Its solid carbide construction and heavy-duty grade make it appropriate for both production environments and precision repair work. The tapered web configuration provides added rigidity at the core, reducing deflection during drilling. With an overall length of 1.5 inches and a flute length of 0.75 inches, it fits compact spindle setups and benchtop drill presses commonly used in PCB and light fabrication work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use drill bit for applications requiring wire gauge size 20 solid carbide tooling in circuit board, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and plastic drilling operations.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or electronics fabrication technicians. Ensure the drill press or CNC spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Confirm collet or chuck size is compatible with the 4.09 mm (0.1610 inch) shank diameter before securing the tool. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate or spindle speed for the workpiece material, as solid carbide tooling is rigid but can fracture under lateral load or improper setup.
