The M.A. FORD. 2XDSR5787A is a solid carbide jobber drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 14.70 mm (0.5787 inch) diameter, a 142-degree point angle, and an ALtima/AlTiN proprietary coating that extends tool life in abrasive and heat-generating cuts. The overall length is 140.00 mm (5.5118 inches), with an 80.00 mm (3.1496 inch) flute length. A straight cylindrical shank at 16 mm (0.6299 inch) diameter provides secure chuck engagement. This drill is built for machinists and tooling professionals working on production and job-shop floors where tool consistency and hole quality in tough materials matter.
This drill is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys in both manual and CNC machining centers. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper drilling relative to diameter, and the regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in materials that work-harden or generate significant heat. It is a right-hand cutting tool with a standard point type, appropriate for general through-hole and blind-hole applications in industrial environments. Coolant-through capability is not present on this model, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling stainless and high-temp alloy workpieces.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a 16 mm straight shank. Intended primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes H, M, and S). Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide drill line covering the 12.50 mm to 15.00 mm diameter range.
This drill should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide tooling handling. Carbide is brittle and should never be used in a worn or loose toolholder, as runout will cause chipping or fracture. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are clean and within tolerance before seating the shank. Because this tool does not feature internal coolant delivery, apply external cutting fluid or coolant generously, particularly when drilling stainless steel or high-temp alloys, to manage heat buildup and prevent work hardening at the drill tip.
