The M.A. FORD 2XDSR3858A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 9.80 mm (0.3858 inches) in diameter with a 142-degree split-point geometry and an overall length of 103.00 mm (4.0551 inches). The bit carries an ALtima AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) proprietary coating that increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. The Series 2XDSR designation places this bit in the high-performance category, suitable for use by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance professionals working in production or job-shop settings.
This drill bit is designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys - workpiece material codes H, M, and S. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole operations. A straight cylindrical shank with a 10 mm (0.3937 inches) shank diameter allows direct installation in standard drill chucks and collet holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio provides adequate flute length for typical jobber-depth applications without excessive overhang.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloy workpieces (primary workpiece material codes H, M, S). Fits any toolholder or drill chuck accepting a 10 mm straight shank. Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom professionals. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the drill bit from the chuck or collet holder. Verify shank seating and runout before initiating a cut, as carbide tools are sensitive to lateral loading and vibration. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to manage heat buildup during extended drilling cycles.
