The M.A. FORD 2XDSR3031A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 7.70 mm (0.3031 inch) cutting diameter and a 142-degree split-point angle that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust load on entry. The proprietary ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating raises surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cuts. Overall length is 91.00 mm (3.58 inches) with a flute length of 48.00 mm (1.89 inches). The straight cylindrical shank measures 8 mm (0.315 inch) in diameter. This drill is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
The 2XDSR3031A is sized for drilling into steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys where carbide substrate and a hard-coat finish are necessary to maintain cutting edge integrity. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderately deep holes up to 38.00 mm (1.50 inches). Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute suits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes operating with conventional clockwise spindle rotation. It is manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system.

This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists in CNC or manual machine tool setups. Ensure the spindle and all machine axes are fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized collet, drill chuck, or hydraulic holder to the recommended clamping depth to avoid runout. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so external coolant or minimum quantity lubrication should be directed at the cutting zone when drilling stainless steel or high-temp alloys to manage heat buildup.
