The M.A. FORD 2XDSR2677A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 2XDSR specifications, it features a 6.80 mm (0.2677 inch) cutting diameter with a 142-degree split point and an ALtima ALtiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) proprietary coating. The coating improves heat resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in abrasive and high-strength materials. With a straight cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute geometry, this drill runs in standard drill chucks without adapters. It is sized at 91.00 mm (3.5827 inches) overall length, making it well suited for machine tool spindles on vertical mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
This drill bit is engineered primarily for steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups H, M, and S. It is a common choice for tool and die shops, aerospace component manufacturers, precision machine shops, and job shops working with difficult-to-machine alloys. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio (48.00 mm flute length, 1.8898 inches) supports chip evacuation at moderate drilling depths. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 38.00 mm. No coolant-through capability is present, so external or flood coolant delivery is standard practice on this model.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material groups H, M, and S). Fits any machine spindle or chuck accepting an 8 mm (0.3150-inch) straight shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide jobber drill lineup in the 6.00-7.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool and die professional. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Because this drill has no internal coolant delivery, apply flood, mist, or external coolant directed at the cutting zone to manage heat buildup in steel and high-temp alloy drilling. Do not exceed the 38.00 mm maximum recommended drilling depth without pecking cycles to clear chips and reduce thermal load.
