The M.A. FORD 2XDSR2656A is a jobber-length solid carbide drill bit with a 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) diameter and a 142-degree split-point angle. It carries an ALTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) finish that increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) in diameter, and the overall length is 3.58 inches. Designed for high-performance drilling, this bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual setups where close-tolerance holes are required. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This drill bit is engineered for use in temperature alloys, titanium, and other hard-to-machine materials classified under ISO material codes H, M, and S. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular right-hand spiral flute geometry support chip evacuation in tough workpiece materials. The maximum drilling depth is 1.51 inches, and the flute length is 1.89 inches, making it appropriate for typical jobber-length drilling operations in production and maintenance machining environments. It is sold individually and is not a coolant-through design.
Designed for drilling temperature alloys, titanium, and similar hard workpiece materials (ISO codes H, M, S). Fits standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits to prevent premature carbide breakage. Power down and de-energize all machine controls before changing tooling. Solid carbide bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel and should not be used in hand-held drilling applications where lateral loading can occur.
