The M.A. FORD 2XDSR2283A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It measures 5.80 mm (0.2283 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 82.00 mm (3.2283 inches). The 142-degree point angle is optimized for self-centering entry and reduced thrust in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated carbide. The right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This drill is intended for installation by machinists, toolroom technicians, and manufacturing professionals working on CNC and manual drill press setups.
The 2XDSR2283A is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys in both production and job-shop environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 32.00 mm (1.2598 inches) make it practical for through-hole and blind-hole applications in these material groups. The straight cylindrical shank (6.00 mm diameter) fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. This series is positioned as a high-performance option where standard HSS tooling falls short in hardness or heat resistance.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide drill family in the 5.00 mm to 6.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Verify chuck or collet holding force is appropriate for the shank diameter to prevent slippage or tool breakage. Coolant-through is not supported on this drill; external coolant or mist lubrication is recommended when drilling stainless steel or high-temperature alloys to manage heat at the cutting edge.
