The M.A. FORD. 2XDSR1968A is a jobber-length, solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in difficult-to-machine materials. It carries a 5.00 mm (0.1968 inch) diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of matching diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. The 142-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on contact, minimizing walking on hard workpiece surfaces. An ALtima titanium nitride coating extends cutting life in abrasive applications. Overall length is 80.00 mm (3.1496 inches) with a 38.00 mm (1.4961 inch) flute length. The two-flute, regular spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation at high feed rates.
This drill bit is engineered for use on titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys, and other difficult-to-machine workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups H, M, and S. It is suited for aerospace, defense, and precision machining environments where dimensional accuracy and tool life are critical. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and maximum recommended drilling depth of 30.00 mm make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole operations in production and job-shop settings. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary end users. Coolant-through capability is not present on this model, so flood or mist coolant at the entry point is recommended when drilling thermally sensitive alloys.

Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a balanced, true-running collet or chuck to minimize runout, which can fracture carbide cutting edges. Power down the spindle completely before changing tooling. Because this bit does not feature coolant-through channels, apply adequate external flood or mist coolant at the cutting zone when working titanium or temperature-resistant alloys to manage heat buildup and prolong tool life.
