The M.A. FORD. 2XDSR1654A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 4.20 mm in diameter with an overall length of 80.00 mm and a flute length of 38.00 mm. The bit features a 142-degree point angle optimized for self-centering entry and reduced thrust in hard materials. An ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5.00 mm in diameter and fits standard drill chucks. This drill is rated as a high-performance tool and carries ISO 9001:2015 certification.
The 2XDSR1654A is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys in production and maintenance environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in deeper entry cuts, with a maximum recommended drilling depth of 30.00 mm. The two-flute, regular spiral configuration handles the chip loads typical of ferrous and nickel-based materials. It is commonly used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where carbide rigidity is required.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloy workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 5.00 mm shank. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide jobber drill line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before cutting to avoid premature tip failure. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or use in underpowered or high-vibration setups. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for speed and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material.
