The M.A. FORD 2XDSR1457A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in difficult-to-machine materials. It measures 3.70 mm in diameter with an overall length of 69.00 mm and features a 142-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and cutting forces at entry. The ALtima plus Titanium Nitride (TiN) combination coating extends tool life and resists heat buildup during aggressive feeds. With a straight-cylindrical shank and regular-spiral flute form, this drill integrates cleanly into standard chucks and collet holders used in CNC machining centers and manual machines alike. It is intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling professionals.
This drill is engineered specifically for cutting temper alloys and titanium alloys, as well as other ISO material groups H, M, and S. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides a maximum drilling depth of 26.00 mm in a single pass without pecking, making it well suited for production environments where cycle time and hole quality are critical. Typical applications include aerospace component machining, medical device manufacturing, and precision job-shop work where difficult alloys are the norm.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or production drill for use in Series 2XDSR tooling setups. Best suited for ISO workpiece material groups H, M, and S, including temper alloys and titanium. Fits standard straight-bore chucks and collet systems accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter.
This drill bit is installed and changed out by machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth and verify runout before cutting. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or coating wear at regular intervals, especially when drilling titanium or high-temperature alloys, as premature edge wear will degrade hole tolerance and surface finish.
