The M.A. FORD 2XDCS1496A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in the 2XDCS series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 3.80 mm (0.1496 inch) diameter, a 142-degree split-point geometry, and an ALtima plus Titanium Nitride (TiN) dual coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature applications. The overall length is 63.00 mm (2.480 inches) with a 22.00 mm (0.866 inch) flute length, a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, and a maximum drilling depth of 18.00 mm. It cuts right-hand with a regular spiral and two flutes. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision manufacturing shops are the primary users.
This drill is rated for primary workpiece material codes H, M, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, stainless and heat-resistant steels, and high-temperature superalloys and titanium alloys. It is well suited to aerospace, medical device, and precision-machining environments where close tolerances and tool longevity in difficult materials are required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in short-to-moderate depth holes. The coolant-through design allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting edge, reducing heat buildup when used on CNC machining centers or drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility safety procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank securely in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before operating. Verify spindle RPM, feed rate, and coolant pressure match the requirements for the workpiece material before initiating a cut. Do not use on materials outside the rated workpiece codes, as improper application can cause premature tool failure or workpiece damage.
